Servers for those
who teach and learn

A student with a thesis, a lecturer with a lab environment, a department running a research portal — academic applications are reviewed with priority. A university email or GitHub link is enough for verification.

Real resources for
serious tasks

Scientific projects need real resources — CPU for computation, RAM for large datasets, stable uptime for experiments. We select the configuration for your task and don't restrict operation time.

Technology in
service of people

NGOs, volunteer organizations, and environmental projects often operate with zero infrastructure budget. We believe hosting should not be a barrier for those doing important work.

Four steps to a free dedicated server
  • 01
    Submit application

Describe your project, audience, and technical needs using the form at the bottom of this page.

  • 02
    We review it

3–5 business days. We assess social value and the reasonableness of the technical requirements.

  • 03
    Get access

If approved — credentials and a setup guide arrive by email. The server is already provisioned.

  • 04
    Build and grow

The server is yours to use. Once a year we confirm the project is still active and eligible.

Frequently asked questions
  • What server configurations are available? arrow faq

Configuration is selected individually for your project. Specify what resources you need in the application: CPU, RAM, disk. We offer everything from a minimal VPS (1 vCPU / 1 GB RAM) to more powerful dedicated setups for resource-intensive projects.

  • How long is the server provided for? arrow faq

The server is provided for 1 year with the option to renew. Once a year we ask you to confirm that the project is still active and meets the program requirements.

  • Can the project be monetized? arrow faq

Partial monetization is acceptable if it is not the primary purpose. Voluntary donations are fine. Paid access, subscriptions, or advertising as primary revenue is not eligible for the program.

  • We don't have a website yet, just an idea. Can we apply? arrow faq

You can, but chances are lower. We prefer projects that already have something real: a repository, a prototype, or an audience. If you only have an idea — describe it in as much detail as possible and justify the technical need.

  • What happens if the project shuts down? arrow faq

We ask that you notify us — the server will be returned to the program pool. This is fair to other projects waiting in the queue.

  • Do you accept applications from other countries? arrow faq

Yes, the program is open to projects worldwide. Applications are accepted in Russian and English. We especially welcome international academic applications from universities and students.

Free VPS and dedicated server for non-commercial projects

BlueServers has been providing reliable dedicated hosting since 2016 — with 260+ servers, 5,000+ satisfied clients, and 20+ datacenters across 8 countries. Now we are opening part of that infrastructure to non-commercial projects at no cost.

Our free dedicated servers and free VPS are available to educational platforms, student projects, scientific research, environmental initiatives, and volunteer organizations worldwide. Unlike a standard free dedicated server hosting trial, this is a long-term commitment — approved projects receive fully provisioned infrastructure with no pressure to convert to a paid plan.

If you are looking for a free dedicated server for an educational project, free dedicated servers for student development, or free dedicated server hosting for open source — submit an application using the form above. We review every application individually and aim to help projects that make the world a better place.
